This year’s Latitude will be my fourth time at the festival, and I’m thoroughly looking forward to it.

The first year I went was in 2008 – and it was a gentle eye-opener into the world of festival life.

Having taken a bag with far too much stuff in it, my friends and I were exhausted (and probably miserable) by the time we had pitched our tents.

However, once we had our first can of not-quite-chilled cider, and were allowed to go into the festival area, I was a lot happier, and started getting really excited.

The Friday was probably the best day, as I got a photograph with singer Natty after he performed in the woods, and saw Franz Ferdinand headline the Obelisk Arena.

But the looks I got as I walked out of the Sigur Ros’ performance on the Saturday after just two songs weren’t exactly friendly – especially as we were only 20 or so rows from the front.

However that night in the woods we saw Club de Fromage, who played a repertoire of cheesey music. Dancing to that was the best way to end the night.

The highlight of Sunday was booing comedian Hans Teeuwen off the stage for an inappropriate set. I also met Rufus Hound that day.

The following year was probably my favourite year, and the Friday was fantastic.

Squeeze in the Uncut Arena were incredible – my favourite performance at the festival, closely followed by Pet Shop Boys, who headlined the Obelisk Arena that night.

The following year we spent more time in the camping area drinking, but I’ve never come back disappointed from the festival.

My tent is ready to go again this year, we have been firm friends for 11 years and it is now slightly musty and still has that festival smell to it and I’m sure I won’t want to spend anymore than the four nights in it.

And I’m sure I won’t be disappointed by this year’s line up– I’m looking forward to Kelis, Damon Albarn and Kevin Bridges the most, along with late-night DJ sets from Wookie and MJ Cole – and I’m hoping to try something a bit different this year, might even pop into the literature tent!
