Pre-order sales of Ipswich Town’s new home and away kits have increased 100% compared to the club’s last kit launch in 2012.

Director of Retail Operations Lee Hyde said the new Adidas-designed kits had proved popular with fans, ahead of the new Netherlands-inspired away kit going on general sale today.

The new home kit, which includes a black trim, goes on general sale next Saturday and Hyde said: “It’s been brisk to say the least and we have had around 1,200 pre-orders.

“We last did a pre-order launch two years ago and sold about 600 so we are looking at a 100% increase in terms of the new brand.”

Fans who pre-ordered and already have the new kits, have taken to social media to upload pictures of themselves in them, and that has resulted in the club fielding a number of follow-up enquiries.

“We have been inundated with calls about when the kits are going on general sale as people are seeing fans wearing their shirts,” Hyde explained.

“There is still a huge appetite from fans to get the new kit and I would imagine that prior to the first couple of pre-season games and around the West Ham friendly, kit sales will be pretty hectic.”

The club’s new range of training wear will go on sale on July 16 – the day of the West Ham game – and Hyde hopes that will prove to be just as popular as the replica shirts, which have gone down a storm with supporters.

“The fans love the fact that we are back with Adidas,” added Hyde.

“The designs are not too flashy with crazy designs, but they are solid and strong with traditional values. We are celebrating our first year back with Adidas and the Dutch theme (including an advertising campaign with Frans Thijssen) has proved popular.”

Season ticket sales are also up slightly on this time last year, with around an extra 200 having being sold.

“They are up slightly at this stage, although we can’t take an end-of-season figure at this stage,” said Hyde.
