A crash between a car and a motorbike has brought London Road to a halt.
Police were called to the accident, at the junction with Dickens Road close to the allotments, at 5.15pm.
The rider is being treated by paramedics but is conscious and breathing, and is not thought to be critically injured.
The crash was between a Suzuki 800 bike and a Seat Ibiza.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area.
