A man who was arrested on suspicion of rape in Colchester has been released and the investigation closed.
A woman aged in her 40s stated that she was raped in a garden off London Road in Marks Tey at some stage during the early hours of Sunday, February 2.
Officers arrested a 28-year-old man from the Clacton area in mid-May before releasing him on police bail pending further enquiries.
These enquiries have now been completed, with officers unable to determine whether any offence was committed. As a result, the man has been released from his bail and without charge.
The investigation is now closed unless any new information comes to light.
