A man and a woman were assaulted in Ipswich and the woman had her bag stolen in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The pair got into a row with a man outside the Malthouse in Ipswich before leaving.

At around 3am they were making their way under the Princes Street bridge when the same man approached them from behind with two others. He grabbed the woman’s handbag and assaulted her and the man before he and his accomplices ran off together.

The man who took the victim’s bag is described as black, in his mid-twenties, approximately 6ft 2ins, of a medium build, clean shaven and was wearing black rectangular glasses and a grey hooded top.

He was with two other black men. One of these is described as in his mid-twenties and had cornrows in his hair.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area around this time, or recognises any of the men described, to contact Det Con Michael Florey by dialling 101 quoting crime reference IC/14/2114, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
