A boy has been airlifted to hospital after being struck by a car in Witham.
Police are at the scene of the crash which took place shortly after midday on the Maldon Road when a grey Mercedes 8180 struck the boy.
He has been airlifted to hospital after receiving head injuries, paramedics on board the air ambulance are assessing the extent of his injuries.
A section of the road between The Grove and Newland Street has been closed while an investigation is under way to ascertain the circumstances of the crash.
