Coastguards have rescued a mother and her baby after the car they were travelling in became stranded on the causeway at Mersea Island.
A Mersea Coastguard Rescue Team and West Mersea RNLI Lifeboat were dispatched around 1.40pm yesterday after the vehicle got stuck in water half way across the Strood crossing.
Two adults and three children, including a six-month-old baby, were all recovered to safety.
