A clothing design by a former Suffolk New College student has been worn by a famous celebrity.

Singer Beyoncé was seen in an ‘Art-Deco’ shirt that was designed by Kelly Anna, who studied a National Diploma in Art and Design at the College.

Kelly Anna, who works for Illustrated People, said: “One of my friends told me she saw a picture of Beyoncé in one of my tops so I had a look online and there she was. Apparently she went to Top Shop, where it is sold. I was shocked.”

Kelly, originally from Woodbridge Road, Ipswich, also said that her time at Suffolk New College played a key part in getting her to where she is today.

“I loved the college and I still rave about it today, when you talk to people about where you’ve been I always mention I studied there, the tutors were incredible and the facilities were amazing.“ Amanda Winnick, head of the Creative Arts School at Suffolk New College, said: “Kelly Anna was a fantastic student who flourished while studying Fashion and Textiles; her work was experimental, innovative and very exciting. Like a lot of our students, she went on to university and that is something our courses really give students the chance to do.”
