Jose Mourinho, Suffolk brewers Adnams and the Press Association are latest to donate lots for an online auction aimed at raising £1million for a charity set up in memory of Sir Bobby Robson.

And the countdown has now begun with just over a month to go before the items are finally auctioned off.

The latest items have helped boost the lots to more than 250, with the money raised from Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough Online Auction going towards the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer, as well as providing funds for the Ipswich and West Suffolk Hospitals.

Chelsea manager Mourinho has donated a signed and personalised pair of football boots which he uses when training his players; Adnams has given a glittering array of prizes including a week’s stay at the Brewers House, in Southwold, a place in the Adnams 10k, tours of the brewery, a meal for 20 at one of their top hotels, plus beers and wines; while PA have offered up two framed photos of Sir Bobby holding the UEFA Cup aloft and in his playing days at Fulham.

Gina Long, the West Suffolk-based auction founder, said: “It’s very special to have Jose Mourinho’s personal support and this is the icing on the cake. He always takes his time to think about what he wants to donate which is a reflection of his admiration and love for Sir Bobby.

“It never ceases to amaze me about the outstanding generosity of people and with just three weeks to go before the auction goes live we have had some wonderful support from all round the world and we have got once-in-a-lifetime donations which provides something for everyone.

“We currently have 254 auction prizes and if we are to reach our £1m target we really do need 200 prizes more and encourage people to consider donating to what is one of the most exciting fundraisers of 2013.”

Other lots already secured for the auction, supported by the East Anglian Daily Times, include a trip to see Real Madrid v Barcelona at the Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid as a guest of Keiron Dyer, the former Ipswich Town midfielder and now the club’s academy coach; lunch in London with top British actor Bill Nighy; a visit to Tottenham Hotspur’s new training centre to watch training and then have lunch with Andre Villas-Boas; a bowling session with England cricketer Graeme Swann at Lords; a VIP trip to next year’s F1 Grand Prix in Monaco by private jet; a week’s all inclusive trip for 10 people sailing on a luxury catamaran around the British Virgin Isles and tickets for two to the 2014 PFA Awards Dinner.

Also up for grabs is a pair of signed football boots from Shinji Kagawa with a photo to capture the moment at Manchester United’s Carrington Road Training Ground; a world cruise for two onboard the Balmoral; celebrity golf in Portugal; and a chance to charter a 60ft super yacht for a week around the British Virgin Islands or Eastern Mediterranean.

Meanwhile, Andy Wood, Adnams chief executive, said: “Adnams is delighted to be Champagne sponsors for the Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough Auction this year.

“I have no doubt that the target of £1million will be reached this year. We have donated a number of ‘money can’t buy’ experiences that we hope will attract some generous bidding.

“The Foundation, Breakthrough Breast Cancer and the two hospitals are all tremendously worthwhile causes which we are extremely proud to support. We are looking forward to the bidding to begin and urge people to be generous.”

The auction begins on Thursday, October 10, and runs until Sunday, October 27. Items are announced daily. Visit www.sirbobbysbreakthrough.com to register.
