Re: Clare Country Fayre, 1983 (Flashback, August 29)

I was sent a copy of your Thursday, August 29 EADT edition as my friend recognised me in your Flashback section.

I was the little girl (then 10, now 41) in the picture with the medieval troubadours. The others were my step dad David Marshall, one of their group and my mother Valerie Marshall.

I looked so miserable as I had just refused to present a bouquet to the Mayoress (or Mayor’s wife, I can’t remember) as I was too shy, I hid in the tent!

My mother is still doing medieval and Roman re-enactments under The Troubadours name but my stepfather as since passed away. I seem to recall another photo of the four of us taken including a boy with a rat hanging over his head, wearing a Spain 82 top.

Thank you for the fun you have created amongst my friends.

JULIA EDWARDS (nee Burrows),

Re: Boxford Gala Sports Day, July 1983 (Flashback, September 2)

Regarding the photo of two boys holding wet sponges over their heads. The one on the left is Richard Gooderham, the one on the right is Stephen Raymond. These two boys were part of Boxford Rovers FC, formed in 1980 by Colin Raymond (dad of Stephen), Graham Gooderham (dad of Richard), David Elliott and Dave Fairburn.

COLIN RAYMOND,

Re: Games at Melton Church, September 1982 (Flashback, September 3)

The two girls on the right are Polly Penning-ton (nee Ashford) with her older sister immediately behind, Laura Dolan (nee Ashford). Our family house is visible behind in this picture. Our parents still live there now.

LAURA DOLAN,

Re: Eyke Teddy Bears Picnic in 1979 (Flashback, September 2)

I am writing to you about the above photograph.

The little boy on the right next to a little girl in white is my son, Jamie Pearce, aged seven years.

They used to have a teddy bears picnic each year.

One other lad was Johnathon Snowden, who still lives locally near Eyke.

My son is now 41 years old and has two sons himself.

It was great to see the photo.

MRS P PEARCE,

Eyke.
