Ipswich Town’s under-21s development team lost 2-0 at home to Cardiff City in their first game of the season, at Portman Road.
Two first half goals from the Bluebirds’ Etien Velikonja and Rhys Healey gave the Welsh team the victory.
Town fielded a fairly strong team, captained by Christoph Berra, which included Frederic Veseli, Anthony Wordsworth, Paul Taylor and Jack Marriott.
Meanwhile, Bury St Edmunds-based company Servest have agreed a three-year deal to sponsor the Under-21s development team.
