An autistic boy drifting out to sea on an inflatable boat was rescued by lifeboat crews.
Thames Coastguard said it received a number of 999 calls reporting the boat was a long way offshore at Frinton-on-Sea in north-east Essex at around 2.40pm yesterday.
Walton RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat and Walton Coastguard’s rescue team were called to the scene.
Crews rescued the boy before he was reunited with his carer.
