Festival-goers bound for Latitude on trains today are being advised not to travel at present, after a man climbed on to the roof of Ipswich rail station forcing its complete closure.

And motorists are facing delays on the A12.

A tweet from rail operator Greater Anglia warned people: “@LatitudeFest We’re advising people not to travel at present.”

A Suffolk Police spokeswoman said traffic is currently moving slowly on the A12 approach to Henham Park, near Southwold.

Festival organisers joined forces with police to implement plans to ease some of the expected congestion on the A12 and A145 as tens of thousands of people flock to see acts including Bloc Party, Kraftwerk, alt-j and the Foals.

The festival is clearly signposted and information has already been given out with the festival tickets.

Temporary traffic diversions and orders will be in place with speed limits of 30mph and no stopping orders in force along the A145 and A12 in the vicinity of the gates onto the site – in place until Monday.

Temporary traffic lights will be in operation on the junction of the A145 and the A12, and the junction of Middle Barn Lane and the A12 all day on Monday. People should allow additional time for journeys in the area.

A one-way system will be in place westbound from the entrance to Henham Quarry along Middle Barn Lane and Craven Manor Lane to the junction with the A145 from Thursday to Sunday night.

Also, eastbound, a one-way system will be in place from the A145 along Middle Barn Lane past Henham Quarry to the A12 on Sunday night and Monday daytime.
