A man has been charged with assault after an incident on a playing field in Newmarket.
It happened at about 5.40pm yesterday on the Rowley Drive playing fields.
A 30-year-old man was walking across the playing field with a friend when he passed a group of people. He was assaulted by one member of the group resulting in him having bruising and a small cut to his face.
Daniel Smith, 23, from Moulton Road, Cheveley, Newmarket, was arrested last night and has been charged with assault by beating.
He will appear at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on August 9.
