A member of crew who was unwell on board a yacht south of Orford Quay was rescued by a lifeboat this afternoon.
Aldeburgh Lifeboat Station launched the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s (RNLI’s) Inshore Lifeboat ‘Christine’ at 1.55pm at the request of Thames Coastguard to rescue the crew member.
On arrival the Inshore Lifeboat crew assessed the casualty, who was too unwell to transfer to shore without assistance.
The crew used the coastguard stretcher to transfer them to the lifeboat and this then transported them to Orford Quay and the waiting ambulance service and coastguards.
The casualty was diagnosed with a severe stomach bug.
