From tennis player Andy Murray winning Wimbledon to England’s cricket team impressing in the Ashes – there has been much to celebrate in terms of recent British sporting success.
There has certainly been a feel-good factor in one seaside town with scores of youngsters taking advantage of a week of activities.
Aldeburgh Town Council has been hosting various events on King’s Field.
They range from tennis, bowls, rounders and golf to zumba, rugby, cricket and football. Representatives from Ipswich Town FC have also been on hand and should be along again later this week.
The activities will culminate on Saturday with a “sports extra” event, with adults invited to go along between 2-5pm and try activities including bowls, croquet and new outdoor gym equipment. It will end with a barbecue and rounders tournament.
Ruth Proctor, clerk to the town council, said there had been a great atmosphere throughout the week so far.
