Young swimmers from across Suffolk have been making a splash with the help of a British Olympian.
David Davies, represented Great Britain at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games. He won a bronze medal in the 1500m freestyle in Athens and silver four years later in the open-water 10k event.
He gave expert tips to pupils as they took part in a competition at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre, Stowmarket.
He said: “I was very excited to share my swimming knowledge with these students, it’s great to see so many kids getting involved in distance swimming at such an early age.
“Hopefully we’ll see some of these children lining up for Team GB in years to come.”
The competition came after a four-day swimming programme involving more than 3,000 students organised by the Great East Swim outreach programme.
Pupils swam a distance of almost 350,000metres.
