A NEW pilot scheme which will enable drivers to park for free from 3pm in Bury St Edmunds on Tuesdays will kick off on St George’s Day.
To launch the scheme and celebrate the Patron Saint of England, Bid4Bury, the town centre business improvement organisation, has arranged for ‘St George’ to visit the town from 3pm on April 23. The year-long pilot scheme allows drivers to use the town’s short-stay car parks and on-street parking without charge from 3pm every Tuesday. The ticket machines in the short-stay car parks will be locked at 3pm so they cannot accept money.
