CASTLE PARK was alive with activity yesterday as more than 1,000 people attended the Colchester Town and Country Show.
Crowds were treated to glorious sunshine as well as a host of attractions, including heavy horse demonstrations, lamb and goat feeding and birds of prey flying displays.
Director of Oakleigh Fairs, Emma Owen, who organised the event, described it as a “good old traditional day out.”
She said: “The weather has really been with us. I think people have been waiting for it to improve and have been desperate to come out and enjoy themselves.
“It really has been like a country show smack in the middle of a town.”
Additional activities included children’s running races, a medieval knights re-enactment and a companion dog show with all proceeds from entries going to the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.
Ms Owen also had praise for the ground staff at Castle Park who prepared the space for the event.
She said: “It looks beautiful. All the bulbs have come out and created a perfect backdrop for the show.”
