MICK McCarthy admits he is concerned about his side’s shortage of goals.

Ipswich Town dominated Saturday’s goalless draw at Peterborough United, but two top saves from home keeper Bobby Olejnik means the Blues have now scored just twice in their last seven outings.

Five clean sheets in eight has kept McCarthy’s ultra-organised outfit four points clear of the relegation zone.

However, with potentially three more wins required from the last nine matches, the worry is that the Blues lack a killer touch.

“We’re the lowest scorers in the division so, yeah, of course it’s a concern to me,” said Town boss McCarthy, whose side now have back-to-back home games against Bolton and Leeds either side of an international break.

“I’ll take the plus points out of this one though and focus on the fact we’ve played well and the keeper’s made two great saves.

“We’ve hit the post (Frank Nouble), (Jay) Tabby would have scored if (Mark) Little hadn’t got a toe on it.

“We know we’ve got to score more. We work on it every single day, there’s always a finishing session, and we’ll keep working on it.

“If we play like that, and we defend like that, we’ll be alright.

“I see others around us won again (Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham, Bristol City, Charlton, Blackpool). It’s going to be tight right to the very end.”
