DOG lovers would have been barking to miss it – pooches from across the region got together for a weekend of fun at Trinity Park.

All About Dogs featured a huge range of canine attractions with dancing dog demonstrations, stunts and ability displays in the main arena by training and gun dog clubs, and a competition to see which dog could leap the furthest after a ball across a big pool of water.

Visiting dogs had plenty to get involved with at the two-day event at the showground, including a fun dog show with classes such as best veteran, puppy, crossbreed and rescue dogs, waggiest tail, prettiest bitch, most appealing eyes, scruffiest pooch, and – one for owners and their pets – the best six legs.

The Ipswich show was also selected as a regional heat of the Kennel Club’s Scruffts crossbreed competition.

Other have-a-go attractions were an Easter bonnet parade for the dogs, a scurry, flyball event, agility course, doggy triathlon, obedience classes, and more.

Also taking part were members of the East and Mid Suffolk Guide Dogs fundraising group.

There was plenty of retail therapy, too, for people to enjoy with more than 50 stands selling everything from specialist foods to bedding.
