MORE than 200 people packed into the John Peel centre to catch a glimpse of musician Newton Faulkner.
The arts centre in Church Walk, Stowmarket, was buzzing when the dreadlocked singer-songwriter appeared on stage.
Andrew Stringer, one of the directors of the John Peel Centre for Creative Arts said: “It was brilliant. It was absolutely superb. He played for two hours, it was a really intimate experience. I think he thoroughly enjoyed it, so did the audience.
“The audience sang along on Bohemian Rhapsody, it was nice to see the centre in full flight. It was a great night, it’s shown what the centre can do. Obviously it’s one of the biggest weeks we have had. It’s been a really busy week.”
Tickets for the gig had sold out at a pace of one-a-minute after the news spread on social network websites Twitter and Facebook.
Tonight (Friday March 21) the venue will be hosting a BBC Introducing gig from 7.30pm.
The event is free and will see groups Solko, Maglia Rosa Group and Horse Party play.
