FIREFIGHTERS were mobilised to three fires in the open across Suffolk on Wednesday.
A crew from Honington and another from bury St Edmunds were sent to Mill Road in Honington at 2.16pm.
On arrival they discovered a bonfire had set a hedgerow alight – it was extinguished by 2.43pm.
At 2.39pm, one crew from Haverhill was called to reports of bushes on fire in Allington Walk, Haverhill.
Firefighters then extinguished the blaze but fire chiefs believe it was deliberate.
Two crews were also called to Exning Road in Newmarket at 5.11pm to reports of a fire which had caught hold of a hedge and trees.
The blaze was extinguished by firefighters using two hosereels.
