CELEBRITY chef Aldo Zilli will take to the stage at the Bury St Edmunds Food and Drink festival this summer as one of the headline acts of the two day bank holiday event.

The Italian-born chef who made his name on the restaurant scene in Soho will top the bill on Monday. August 26, at the event organised by the town centre business improvement group Bid4Bury.

Chief executive of Bid4Bury Mark Cordell said: “I’m delighted that Aldo Zilli has agreed to come to Bury St Edmunds and he’s promising a great show in our Aga Rangemaster Theatre Kitchen.

“This year will build on the success of our inaugural festival last summer and we’re looking forward to welcoming foodies from all over Suffolk and beyond.

“Bury St Edmunds has a growing and vibrant restaurant scene and this event is an opportunity to showcase just how much is on offer here.”

Aldo Zilli is a specialist in Italian, vegetarian and seafood cuisine.

He ran restaurants in London for more than 15 years, has written 10 books and has appeared on countless TV and radio shows as well writing magazine and newspaper columns.

The festival will run from Sunday to Monday, August 25 and 26, and as well as the shows in the theatre kitchen it will feature a wide range of local produce stalls and attractions including a chilli festival and a farmers’ market.
