A BLIZZARD is expected to sweep into Suffolk and Essex on Friday afternoon - prompting warnings not to go out after dark.
Norwich-based Weatherquest said up to five inches of snow will fall across the region tomorrow.
Forecaster Phil Garner said the snow will become more persistent into the evening, with winds increasing as high as 25mph.
“People should not be going out after dark,” he added. “It would not be sensible to travel unless you really have to.”
Mr Garner said the snow is expected to ease significantly into Saturday and Sunday. But temperatures will remain hovering around freezing.
He said there would be light snow showers along the coast of Suffolk and Essex today. Tonight there is a chance of a light dusting of snow, with temperatures plummeting as low as -9c.
