TIM Passmore has been voted Police and Crime Commissioner for Suffolk, while Nick Alston was elected for the role in Essex.
Tory candidate Mr Passmore beat Labour’s Jane Basham after second preference votes were counted as neither secured the required 50% of first choice votes.
In total, he secured 36,946 votes compared to Ms Basham’s 35,005.
In Essex, Conservative Nick Alston beat Independent candidate Mick Thwaites, also after a second count.
Mr Alston recieved a total of 62,350 votes and Mr Thwaites secured 58,664.
