TWO brothel-keepers are today awaiting their fate after admitting running a town vice den.

Danny Burrows, of Cherry Blossom Close, Pinewood, Ipswich, and Peter Yallop, of St Clement’s Church Lane, Ipswich, pleaded guilty to keeping a brothel when they appeared before the town’s crown court.

They were arrested in a series of raids, one of which was at the former Angels massage parlour in Woodbridge Road, which was located near the junction with Orchard Street.

The pair admitted the offence at their plea and case management hearing before Judge John Holt.

Burrows, 63, was the manager of the sex parlour, while Yallop, 71, has pleaded guilty on the basis that he assisted in the management of a brothel.

Their cases were adjourned for sentencing at Ipswich Crown Court during the week commencing September 24.

Burrows and Yallop are currently on bail until then.

Angels had been running for several years before the raid, advertising itself locally as offering a ‘premier massage service’.

In addition to the raid in March last year, police swooped on Yallop’s home – which is near Fore Street, and Burrows’ home. They also raided another property in Ipswich.

Another team of officers also executed a search warrant at a house in the Bungay area.

Around 50 officers were involved in the operation, codenamed Hackness, along with representatives from the fire service, Department of Work and Pensions, the Suffolk County Council Make a Change Team and British Gas.

Yallop and Burrows were taken to Ipswich police station for questioning before being released on bail, pending further inquiries. Following further investigations they were charged.

Four women were located during the raid at Angels. They were interviewed by specially-trained staff as police were concerned they were being sexually exploited.

Angels was the subject of an early-morning raid again in July last year, along with a flat in Chesterton Close where further arrests were made in connection with running a brothel.

Two other defendants linked to the Burrows and Yallop case, Mamadorma Banya, 39, of Cherry Blossom Close, Pinewood, Ipswich, and David Akers, 46, of Chesterton Close, Chantry, Ipswich, were told no evidence will be offered against them when they appeared at crown court.
