Ipswich v Huddersfield: Jordan Rhodes is set to miss out on his emotional return to Portman Road on Saturday after closing in on a move to Blackburn Rovers.
Huddersfield Town have announced this morning on their website that Rhodes is set to complete his move to Rovers for a club record transfer fee of around �8 million.
The Terriers, who play Ipswich on Saturday, accepted Blackburn Rovers’ fourth bid of the transfer window on Wednesday afternoon, paving the way for Rhodes to discuss personal terms with the Ewood Park outfit.
The young striker, then 19 years old, was sold by Roy Keane in July 2009 for an undisclosed fee – believed to be around �400,000.
But the club negotiated a series of clauses in the original transfer fee – believed to be 10% of any future sale, which would mean Ipswich are set to make around �800,000 from the sale.
Rhodes hit 87 goals in 148 appearances placing him eighth in the club’s all-time scorers list.
He never started for Ipswich, making 10 appearances from the bench and scoring one goal – at Portman Road in a 1-1 draw against Cardiff City.
