TEENAGE midfielder Massimo Luongo has officially completed his season-long loan switch to Ipswich Town from Tottenham Hotspur.

The 19-year-old arrived at Portman Road on Monday to complete the paperwork on his move and take a look around the ground, just hours after agreeing a contract extension until 2014 at White Hart lane.

Capped twice by Australia at Under-20 level, he joined Spurs in January 2011 after impressing on trial at the London club.

Having been recommended to the club by returning academy director Bryan Klug – who spent the last two years coaching within Tottenham’s youth team set-up – 5ft 9in Luongo is a technically gifted and creative player who can pull the strings from a deep-lying position in the middle of the park.

The teenager will train with his new team-mates for the first time on Tuesday and could be included in the squad for Wednesday’s friendly against Cambridge.

“I’m very excited at joining Ipswich,” said the teenager. “From having a look around the stadium you can see that it’s a big club and with this being my first loan deal I’m excited to get going.

“I’ve been developing at Tottenham but I want to get a taste of first team action and I’m hoping to get that experience here at Ipswich. I’m just really looking forward to starting here now.”
