THE number of new registered home buyers in the region dropped by two per cent in July, new figures have revealed.
The statistics, published by industry experts Hometrack, show that the region is in line with the rest of the country in the fall in demand, although the number of new properties registered for sale went up by 1.3pc during the month.
However, house prices in the east showed no change in the average price, while the national picture showed a slight drop of 0.1pc.
James Girling, of the Suffolk branch of the National Association of Estate Agents, said sporting events such as football’s European Championships and now the Olympics could cause a slowdown in the number of house sales.
