IPSWICH Town will play Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers in a pre-season friendly, the club have confirmed today.
The match against Mick McCarthy’s men – the first announced for Portman Road – will take place on Saturday, July 30 – just one week before the new Championship season kicks off.
Wolves finished one place and one point above the Premier League relegation places last season and will prove a good test of Town’s credentials for next season.
In addition to the high-profile fixture, Town will start their pre-season matches with a short tour of Holland, playing FC Eindhoven and Den Bosch.
They will also travel to Southend United and Colchester United as well as matches against non-league Haverhill Rovers, Cambridge United, Bury Town, Needham Marker and Whitton United.
A spokesman for the club said ticket information for the 3pm kick off against Wolves will be made available in due course.
