TROY Brown is set to sign for Rotherham United over the next few days.

Defender Brown rejected the offer of a new one-year contract at Ipswich Town earlier this month, in a bid to find regular first team football at a lower level.

Brown feared that he would not be a first choice player in Paul Jewell’s set-up next season, so the 20-year-old has taken the bold step to try his luck further down the Football League ladder.

Ex-Fulham Academy player Brown is reported to be close to signing for League Two club Rotherham, who look sure to be promotion candidates next term under new manager Andy Scott.

Brown, a centre-half or right-back, enjoyed several opportunities under former Town boss Roy Keane, but was only a bit-part player during the last four months under Jewell.
