FIREFIGHTERS were today called to reports of a fire in the basement of a property in Ipswich.

The blaze broke out shortly after 1pm in a boiler room of a building at the junction of Murray Road and Nacton Road.

Two crews from Colchester Road fire station were sent to the scene.

They discovered the fire and called for another crew from Princes Street to assist.

A spokesman for the fire service said the blaze was located in the basement boiler room of the single storey building.

He said the gas supply to the property was immediately isolated and firefighters were working to isolate the diesel supply.

A spokesman for the fire service said the incident was under control by 1.50pm with all fuel supplies isolated.
