Students celebrating the end of their school term sparked rave fears among residents in a Suffolk village.
Suffolk police were called around 4.15pm yesterday by a resident in Trimley St Martin, who reported around 30 people walking down towards Loompit Lake near the River Orwell.
The concerned caller said youngsters were drinking and throwing cans over people’s fences and making a lot of noise.
A second call was received at 7.15pm with a tip-off a rave was taking place.
Officers sent to investigate the situation spoke to the young people on the foreshore, who were drinking alcohol, but discovered the gathering was not a rave, just an end-of-term party.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said: “We had a few calls in relation to a possible rave occurring in Trimley but it turned out to be an end-of-term party.”
She said police officers monitored the situation and made periodic checks at the scene.
No further calls were received.
