IT WAS a day for making dreams come true.

As kind-hearted fundraisers strolled along Felixstowe Promenade, donations were pouring in to help pay for two-year-old Amelie Jackson-Ward to visit Disney World.

Born three-weeks prematurely, Amelie was diagnosed as being profoundly deaf at just one-week-old.

Within six months, doctors had diagnosed her with Type 1 Usher’s Syndrome, meaning that she is deaf but also has deteriorating vision.

Now her parents, Debbie Ward and David Jackson, have told of their joy after fundraisers united to give Amelie an exciting trip to meet Minnie Mouse.

Dressed as an array of cartoon characters, more than 60 people took to Felixstowe Promenade yesterday for a charity walk that was full of fun.

More than 5,000 was needed to send the toddler to Florida, but Mr Jackson believes they are on target for the trip.

He said: “The event in Felixstowe was amazing.

“It was incredible to see so many people come out in support of the Amelie fund. Everyone who walked the promenade was sponsored, so I think that we are definitely on our way to getting Amelie to meet Minnie Mouse.”

“There was lots of happy faces and it was just a lovely day,” added a delighted Mr Jackson.
