PAUL Jewell admitted that the result rather than the performance was key, following today’s 2-0 home win over Scunthorpe United.
Town eased to a comfortable win, thanks to two long-range strikes from Carlos Edwards and Jimmy Bullard.
Edwards drilled home a spectacular 30-yarder in the 27th minute, and Bullard doubled Town’s lead with a quality free-kick on 54 minutes.
It was Town’s first home win in five games, following a draw and three successive Portman Road defeats.
Jewell said: “We scored two really good goals, which would have graced any game.
“Before we scored, we had lots of opportunities to put the game to bed. We wasted lots of chances.
“We should have scored three or four goals, but it was important to get the win and also keep a clean-sheet.
“The three points were the most important thing. Whatever you say, people don’t want to see great games and us lose 4-3,” added Jewell.
The Town boss revealed that Kieron Dyer had missed the game due to injury, after “feeling his thigh” at the end of yesterday’s training session.
