A former clothes store was the scene of a fire this evening.
The shop, in Sir Isaacs Walk, Colchester was well alight when fire crews arrived at 6.20pm.
It was heavily smoke logged and once the flames had been extinguished heavy duty fans were brought in to ventilate the unit, which is currently empty.
Crews remained on scene for an hour, damping down and ensuring there were no hotspots that could reignite.
A joint police and fire service investigation will now be carried out.
