AN ambulance carrying a patient to hospital has crashed in foggy conditions in a Suffolk village, blocking the road and leaving paramedics needing hospital treatment.
The vehicle crashed on Fornham Lane in Westley, just before the slip road to the A14, just before 6.30pm today.
Two male paramedics had to be taken to West Suffolk Hospital in another ambulance to receive treatment for minor injuries.
The patient was assessed and continued his journey to hospital in a third ambulance.
The southbound carriageway of the road was closed for more than two hours to allow recovery of the vehicle.
