IPSWICH Town’s new manager will be given the total backing of owner Marcus Evans.
That’s according to chief executive Simon Clegg, who will help Evans interview candidates for the job this weekend following the news that Roy Keane’s contract has been ‘amicably terminated’.
Former Wigan, Derby, Bradford and Sheffield Wednesday boss Paul Jewell is the bookmakers’ favourite for the job, with some having even stopped taking bets following a surge of money, although Clegg refused to comment on any speculation.
The Blues chief executive would, however, confirm that the new man would get financial backing from the board if requested.
“The new manager will be given assurances that he will be given the support and resources that he needs to achiieve the objectives that we have for the club,” said Clegg.
“If the new manager believes he needs resources (in the January transfer window) then we will look at that for him.
“Marcus Evans remains firmly behind this football club and will continue to support it.”
