IPSWICH: A young man was punched in the face several times after being approached by a gang of masked men.

The 21-year-old victim was walking with a friend along Kelly Road in Ipswich at about 8pm on Monday.

The pair decided to cut through an alleyway to Pickwick Road when a group of men approached them from behind and started shouting at them.

Two of the men then punched the victim several times in the face before running away towards Kelly Road.

The group of attackers consisted of two black men and one white man. All of the men were wearing dark coloured hooded tops with their faces covered.
