A MAN was killed during a torrential downpour when a car smashed into a tree.
Stuart Woor, 41, suffered serious injuries in the one-vehicle crash when a Subaru Impreza left Cambridge Road in Linton and collided with a tree around 3.50pm yesterday.
The car is thought to have been travelling towards Cambridge at the time of the crash.
Mr Woor of The Green, Little Thurlow, near Haverhill, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where he later died.
Conditions at the scene were said to be very bad, with officers working in torrential rain.
The road was closed while investigations took place and was reopened at 9.40pm.
