IPSWICH TOWN: Striker Jason Scotland hopes to get on his bike and supply the goals to take the Blues into promotion contention in the npower Championship this season.
And along with team mate Mark Kennedy he helped Ipswich Borough and Suffolk County councillors celebrate a successful first year for the Green Bike Project - a scheme run by one of Town’s nominated charities Orwell Mencap Genesis.
The project takes second-hand or unwanted cycles from or before landfill, and works with disabled people to refurbish them.
The cycles are used for a variety of uses and the scheme has reached a lot of people with Camilla Haycock, ITFC’s media and PR manager saying: “We enjoyed joining the Green Bike project and it was a great opportunity for a couple of our players to people who are helped by Orwell Mencap.”
Project manager Damien Ribbans added: “The project has helped hundreds of people get back on their bikes, and removed tonnes of waste from the landfill system.”
