IT’S the biggest speedway meeting at Foxhall Stadium in decades and Ipswich Witches director Chris Louis is sure fans are in for a speedway treat.
The Elite League Pairs takes place at Foxhall Stadium tomorrow night and features 18 of the sports top riders with the newly-shaped Foxhall circuit sure to see some thrilling action.
And Ipswich fans will be getting behind Witches duo Scott Nicholls and Danny King, as they try to lift the Witches season with some silverware.
While on-track the Witches have had a disappointing season, on-track the fans have enjoyed some terrific action, with passing and re-passing galore on the new circuit..
So tomorrow night, 7.30pm start, the racing, for a very coverted prize, is sure to be good.
“It’s a great honour for us as a club to put this big meeting on,” Louis said.
“The club has put on Test Matches in the past, but I think it is fair to say this is bigger than that. It justifies all our hard work in the winter on re-shaping the circuit and I just know there will be some superb action.”
The field includes six Grand Prix riders as well as many top stars like Nicholls and Leigh Adams.
Picking a winner is difficult, as Louis admits.
“Just look at the pairings yourself, they are all so evenly matched,” he added.
““I still feel the most exciting element of speedway is good, hard team-riding to keep the opposition behind, something we don’t see anywhere near enough today.
“With the skills of the pairings on show, we should be in for a real treat of team-riding, and I hope Witches fans get behind Scott (Nicholls) and Danny (King) as we look to put some silverware in the cabinet.”
Nicholls and King carry the hopes of the home faithful, but looking through the pairings, they face stiff opposition throughout.
The likes of Hans Andersen, Chris Harris, Adam Shields, Kenneth Bjerre, Chris Holder, Adams and Fredrik Lindgren, have all shown their liking of the track this season.
And for one night only, it’s a chance for Witches fans to forget the Elite League table and enjoy some super speedway.
