ANDREW Towers from Great Cornard Upper School and Technology College, near Sudbury, will be heading to Durham University this September.
It will be a proud moment for his family as the 18-year-old, who lives in Monks Eleigh, will be the first person out of his direct relatives to go to university.
The student achieved A*s in chemistry, physics, maths and further maths, and is set to embark on a chemistry degree.
He said: “I was hoping for one or two A*s and I was pretty confident of getting one in maths but I didn’t think my chemistry exam had gone too well.”
Andrew is hoping to go into chemistry research.
