A HORSE-rider in her 60s is fighting for life after suffering a serious head injury in an accident.
The woman was taking part in an endurance riding event near Rushford Hall, near Thetford, when she was injured at about 9.30am today.
A nurse attending the event called in the air ambulance, which landed in a field nearby at 9.37am.
The woman was found unconscious and her horse was loose.
The East Anglian Air Ambulance’s Dr Pam Chrispin and paramedic Jemma Varela anaesthetised and intubated the patient.
She was then flown to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, the region’s specialist hospital for neurology and head trauma where she arrived at just before 11am.
Her condition was today described as “life-threatening”.
