CHELSEA believe they are in a favourable position to fend off bids from Real Madrid as interest mounts for left back Ashley Cole.
The London club, however, have had no indication from Cole that he wants to leave, although hopes have been raised in Madrid due to the England player’s displeasure at the intense media spotlight on his private life.
Signing a four year contract only last September and still an integral member of the Chelsea team, the current interest could still be used by Madrid to offer improved terms for the 29-year-old.
And Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas believes a 30m transfer to the Bernabeu may be imminent. “From what I am hearing the signs look good,” the World cup winner told the Sun.
