FOOD lovers got a taste of gourmet gastronomy as TV chef Chris Coubrough gave Suffolk Show goers a demonstration in cookery.
Kiwi Chris is the familiar face of ITV’s Coastal Kitchen and for eight years ran the kitchens at Southwold’s Crown and Swan hotels.
With help from local butcher Arthur Howell, Chris gave an audience of amateur chefs a crash course in cooking the perfect steak.
The Cookery Theatre was packed with keen cooks who devoured a lesson in food production and preparation, from how cuts of meat differ to which ingredients work best.
Chris’ cheeky style made for an amusing and educational demonstration and emphasised the benefit of locally produced food.
Outside, show goers got the chance to prepare their own kofte kebabs and healthy burgers and Suffolk Food Hall staff were on hand to talk people through the meat, poultry and game preparation process.
Also on stage were classically trained chef Paul Freeman, from the Queen’s Head in Blyford, and Robert Mace, from The Crown in Southwold.
Meanwhile, Dr Ken and Dave Hart from the Institute of Food Research took a humorous and informative look at food science with their More F in Food show.
