MIKEL Arteta is hoping that his end of season form will be enough to land him a late call-up to Spain’s World Cup squad.
Arteta has scored six goals in 11 matches sin cemaking his comeback from a ruptured cruciate knee ligament and he hopes his recent performances have been catching the eye of Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque.
“I’m thinking positively that I can maybe get a call-up - you never know,” Arteta told the Liverpool Echo. “But it’s not going to be easy as we’ve got some terrific players in the middle of the park.
“Some of the players in competition are at big clubs and winning trophies [and] playing in Spain is different.
“I just need to wait and see what happens in May.”
