IPSWICH: A second driver is due to appear in court in connection with a fatal collision which claimed the life of an Ipswich woman.

The 58-year-old man is to face legal proceedings over the incident on the A137 between Wherstead and Tattingstone, in which former Manningstree High School pupil Kirstie Seaman died.

In March Ricki Spriggs, of Pannington Hall Lane, Wherstead, was charged by police with causing death by careless driving.

The 51-year-old is due to appear at Ipswich Crown Court this month, after driving a van that was involved in a collision with Miss Seaman’s moped.

Police have now ordered an Essex man to appear before Ipswich magistrates on Friday.

The motorist, who is from Clacton, was the driver of a car that was heading in the direction of Ipswich when the collision occurred.

He has been summonsed to court to answer an allegation of careless driving.

The charge is due to be formally laid against him when he appears at South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court.

Lisa McGrann, a spokeswoman for Suffolk Constabulary, said: “A 58-year-old male from Clacton has been summonsed to attend South East Suffolk Magistrates Court on Friday, to answer a charge of careless driving following the fatal road traffic collision in which Kirstie Seaman died.”

Miss Seaman was travelling towards Tattingstone when the tragedy occurred just before 6.30am on November 9. The 24-year-old died at the scene.

Miss Seaman was a care assistant at Oak House, in Stutton, and was going to work when the collision happened.

A statement released by her family following her death, described her as a people person with an “enthusiasm for life”.

Her family said: “Kirstie was one of a kind and will be missed by all who knew her. If you met her for the first time, you would be a friend by the time you parted company.

“She loved people and showed she cared by the work she had done.
