DARREN Bent, the Sunderland sharpshooter who learned his trade with Ipswich Town, has been included in England’s provisional 30-strong squad for this summer’s World Cup finals in South Africa.
He joins Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey and Wayne Rooney as attacking options when the squad is reduced to 23 later this month.
Matthew Upson, who was brought up in the Diss area and was on Town’s books as a schoolboy, is named as one of the defenders in today’s squad selected by coach Fabio Capello
